review 1: I found that I didn't like the female main character. She was childish, and downright mean when it came to doing things to the competition, so it was hard for me to think the male main character would be in love with her. I found the story interesting- especially in its historical aspects. I love period writing and this was a good story, but I just couldn't feel for the characters- they didn't come alive for me.

... more ceased to surprise! My only qualm with this book is the use of the spiritual themes. I didn't feel as if the characters truly turned to God. They realized they made mistakes, and there is a scene in a church. However, I felt that it was superficial. I still feel that the story was very sweet as a whole. I will have my eye out for more from Siri Mitchell. I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my fair and honest review. less
