review 1: There is pain. There is fear. Then there's hope. For Lena, life is at a stand still. She's over her relationship, but isn't moving on. When her roommate makes her finally get out it leads to meeting the gorgeous Eric. She's not looking for anything, but he could be everything. If only she could break free from holds her back.Eric sees in Lena just what he isn't looking for. Sometimes life gives us what we need when we least think we need it. He's the guardian to his nephew. Coming back to live in a town he didn't miss. This isn't the time to start a relationship, certainly not the type he's used to.Together Lena and Eric find an attraction that can't be ignored. The timing may not be perfect, but then when is it. This isn't something that comes around often. It's a once in a ... morelifetime type of feeling. Lena has scars, they go so deep she's never recovered. For some reason she trusts a stranger more than any she's ever known. It's not an easy feeling, but a necessary one. Can Eric heal Lena? Can they make things work even if the circumstances aren't perfect? This book is full of the electrical connection that keeps pulling Lena and Eric to each other. When all seems lost fate will keep stepping in. The scenes between the two are full of emotion as Eric tries to discover all there is to the stranger he's pulled to. This book shows step for step how the two mesh and learn about each other. There's nothing that I felt lacked in this book. I loved the storyline and the pace of the book. This is an easy read. It's not long and drawn out. It's a perfect length for a rainy day and a book that will leave you with a smile and no tension lines in your forehead. This isn't an angsty read, it's about self discovery and coming to terms. It's finding the person you can trust more than yourself to lead you in the right direction. I wish there was more to the end. It's a great four star read. The first book I've read by this author, but I'm sure it won't be the last. I'll be keeping an eye out for her other books.I received a copy of this book for my honest review.
review 2: I had a lot of mixed feelings about this book. It almost ended up on my DNF list. I had to fight to get through this one. At first, it was really good, but after that it lost me.To get back at her roommate for dragging her to a sports bar, she flirts with a stranger which leads to a shared cab ride full of passion. Lena never thought she'd see Eric again, they didn't even share names with one another. Imagine her surprise when she finds Eric in the hallway of the school she teaches. Turns out, his nephew is a student there and both his parents died in a car accident, leaving Eric in charge of his care. Eric will show Lena a side of herself she never knew, question is can she handle it?After their first scene together with a passionate kiss, I expected so much more than what I got. Sure there was some BDSM play in it, but compared to some of the books I've read, it just kinda fell short. This one read more like a sappy love story than an erotic romance. I expected scenes full of passion and bondage and what I ended up getting fell way short of the mark and that's where it started to lose me. I wanted to love this book, I really did it just didn't do it for me. This is one of the hardest reviews I've had to write because I wanted to love this book, I just couldn't. For that reason I give it 2 1/2 stars rounded up to 3.***Complimentary copy provided by author in exchange for a honest review*** less
