review 1: I'm confused: is there a sequel? The last chapter finished and we had an email for an epilogue that seemed miles down the road. This is a nice book, and with the exception of swearing, I think it's fully appropriate for younger teen readers. It's sweet, well written but lacked any sort of excitement for me. It really is just the story of two young people having an adventure. If you're after a nice, gentle read then this is perfect
review 2: I haven’t read a YA book in a while. I forgot how sweet, raw and meaningful they can be. That once you stipe away the hot sex, that a book can still be amazing. Don’t get me wrong, I love my sexy books but if you haven’t taken the time to read a YA book, especially done right like is with Steph Cambell, you are sorely m
... moreissing out. Lena is a survivor. She was born with a heart defect. And because of this her parents have kept her in bubble since the day she came home from the hospital when she was a baby. Always scared of germs, they homeschooled and never let her live a normal life. She wanted freedom. She wanted to live, to do things for the first time. “I feel like… I feel like I’m this person, who isn’t even a whole person. Does that make sense? I’ve never done anything. Seen anything.” ~LenaGabe is a misguided teenager. Makes bad choices for the right reasons. Allowed himself to fall in love with a drama seeking girl. These acts led him to be kicked out of his awful mother’s house in Boston. Banished to Glouchester. One day minding his business working a car that his grandfather and father hadn’t finished restoring, there was a knock on the door. A scared and cold Lena locked herself out of her house. Her parents were away, her sister out and she needed help. Gabe needed to go into Boston, Lena went along for the ride. An adventure began that would forever alter their lives. “The thing that they weren’t looking for, the thing no one expected after the massively bad thing happened was actually the one thing that saved me.”I really like this book. The message that I took away from this book was you need to be you. You need to find yourself and not what others want you to be. That sometime scars aren’t physical, that some people have scars on their hearts that make them miraculous. less
