review 1: I love Stephani Hecht’s books. When it comes to giving me some much needed escape from my everyday life, Ms. Hecht’s fast-paced, interesting reads fit the bill for me time and time again.I thought both heroes, Will and Tatum, were unique and addictive men to read about. At first glance, they seem to be polar opposites of each other. Tatum is a cold blooded assassin who doesn’t trust easily. The only affection he has for another person is for his twin brother, who is as equally as dangerous as Tatum is. So Tatum is surprised by the pull of attraction and deep affection he feels for the spider shifter, Will. Will is shy and sweet and nothing like the rough and hardened Tatum. But as the two men start to get to know each other something extraordinary happens…they star... moret to find things in common and begin to feel a genuine friendship, attraction and affection for each other. I thought the chemistry between the two men was sizzling hot and it kept me fascinated throughout the entire story. Also, the action and continuing fight between good vs. evil kept me rooting for Will, Tatum and the rest of the clan. There are plenty of adventure, action and romance in When Tatum Got Bit by a Spider to keep fans of Ms. Hecht’s books and of the Lost Shifter series will love this newest book in the series. Although this book could probably be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading all of the Lost Shifter books. Not only will you love each and every character, you’ll get wrapped up in their lives as well. Highly Recommended!
review 2: Feels harsh to mark this a DNF it's more down to finding more absorbing books than any huge fault, and it wallowing on my 'current-reading' list gathering virtual dust. The series clearly has it's fans, so good for it, but I rather suspect it's one of those 'read one and you've read them all' type series. If you enjoy the style well this is book 19, your book pile has just multiplied ;)For me the characterisation is too thin. The big bad (hot) guy all introspective about how bad-arse he is and how everyone fears him, and yet people are shown talking even joking with him, it doesn't mesh. I never bought into the characters, didn't bond to any enough to make reading on imperative. Also the shifter element never seemed that powerful and it was the curiosity over the Spider shifter that persuaded me to buy. It's lightweight, in-offense, I may yet finish it one day. less
