review 1: When I’m in the mood for a sexy, comfort read, I know I can count on Ms. Hecht’s books to give me exactly what I need. They are always filled with plenty of action, romance and adventure and they always leave me with a smile on my face.In Sacrifice and Blood, there is a fine line between love and hate. Although Ian has known of his feelings of love for Kale, he knows Kale will never be the same. Because of his past, Ian has a bad reputation and is disliked by the others in his coven. But when Ian makes the ultimate sacrifice to save the others…especially Kale, he knows he’ll soon perish, but at least Kale will stay safe. When the two men are thrown together and both of their lives are at risk, Kale is soon faced with the truth about Ian’s sacrifice and the truth ... moreabout his true feelings for Ian.I loved the banter and the intense chemistry between Ian and Kale. I liked how Ian redeemed himself, not only in his own eyes, but within the eyes of Kale. I really enjoyed the fast-paced storyline and all of the action kept me on the edge of my seat.Sacrifice and Blood is a perfect read for a hot summer day. It’s a sexy, flirty read and I highly recommend it. It is the 14th Book in the Drone Vampire Chronicle series and it can be read as a stand-alone romance. I admit, I have not read all of these books in the series and I didn’t have any trouble understanding what was going on. But, if you are like me, once you read this book, you’ll be itching to read the read of the series too.Highly Recommended! The Drone Vampire Chronicles series in book order are:Blood LustMad BloodBlood and MagicIn Passion and BloodSaved by Love’s BloodA Cherished ChristmasBound By BloodReborn in BloodRetribution in BloodEnslaved by BloodBlood and AlchemyTears of BloodVengeance Paid with BloodSacrifice and Blood
review 2: 3.5 starsI felt sorry for Ian much like I did for Shane in her Lost Shifters series. Underneath that aloof snarky exterior was a lonely person who just wanted someone to love him. Kale was a good match for him. I'm just not sure I bought into how much Kale suddenly loved him more than anything and would die without him, when hours earlier he still couldn't stand Ian and thought horrible things about him. But I guess having to face the life-threatening consequences of Ian's prior arrangement with the fire demons (to take out Tarick) helped clarify and prioritize those feelings, and that's not at all a bad thing. I hope Lachlan's story is up next. less
