review 1: I’m a little biased when it comes to Stephani Hecht. I adore her Lost Shifter’s series and most of what she writes. Hecht is fantastic at creating amazing characters, be they macho, twinks, twink’s twink (Noah!) or dragons. I’ve never met a lead of hers that I did not like. When I read Dragon’s Eyes I found myself loving the book. Duncan is a dragon whose very essence was stolen by an evil sorcerer Richard. Now he is Richard’s slave and can’t go against him. When Richard dies Duncan’s dragon’s eye is missing and he suspects that Richard’s son Trent took it… but he’s been watching Trent for a decade and can’t help but feel drawn to him. Trent is miserable, was just as much a slave as Duncan, and now will give up anything and everything to give back... more Duncan’s eye… but who has it?The scenes between the two (and there were only a few) were very hot. It was as if ten years of aggression and pent up passion explodes and creates a beautiful and steamy bond between the two. The only thing I didn’t like about this book was the fact that it was a novella. Ms. Hecht is famous for that. Her characters and plot are concise, you fall in love with them and their circumstances, then BAM it’s over and you are left gasping waiting for the next installment of the series. I really, really, wish I could get a Lost Shifters or Dragon book in triple the length. There better be more Dragon books because we’re introduced to three other brothers who I’m dying to see and an entire world that Hecht introduces, but we only see a small part of. Hecht is a fantastic writer who has her finger on the pulse of gay erotica. She’ll give you shifters, hockey players, EMTs, and now a new series of Dragons and Sorcerers… Enjoy!~ Bitten by Books for AReCafe
review 2: This may be a short story in terms of number of pages but it had the emotional impact of a much longer book on me. The background of the characters, their past and current issues as well as the type of people they are comes through loud and clear. I found myself totally absorbed in their world after the first few pages.Duncan, a dragon shifter, has been the prisoner of a cruel sorcerer for ten years. Unfortunately, or so he thinks, he has fallen in love with the sorcerer's son, Trent. Their confrontation after the father's death is expected, the result isn't.Trent has suffered under his father's rule almost as much as Duncan has. I loved that he'd resisted the lure of evil and turned out to be very honorable.Dragon's Eye is not just a story about a treasure lost to Duncan. For me, it was just as much the story of two men from very different worlds, who are supposed to be enemies, dealing with the fact that they love each other and are meant to be together. The integration of both the 'adventure' side and the 'love story' aspect was what made me like this tale so much. That and the great descriptions and occasional slightly tongue-in-cheek humor. I'd love to see a sequel for this one! NOTE: This book was provided by Total-E-Bound for the purpose of a review. less
