review 1: Stephanie Black creates a good mystery, throwing out red herrings to keep you from guessing who the bad guy is. Nobody is above suspicion and you sure hope it isn't the supportive friend or someone else you are rooting for--but it might be. English professor Fiona Claridge is dealing with a vindictive student who has been caught out plagiarizing. That storyline mixes up with the accidental death of a self-righteous family friend who just happened to be blackmailing and manipulating every one to suit life to her convenience. Of course, from the very beginning we know it was no accidental death and that the stakes are higher than Fiona realizes. In addition to trying to unravel who is harassing her especially as it becomes more deadly, Fiona is also dealing with a painful pa... morest that involves a fiancee she has jilted and a roommate that was killed when Fiona lost control of their car--more motivations for the escalating attacks. My one complaint is that Fiona seems too weak, letting her guilt lead her into unwise decisions. It's realistic, and is part of her growth in the story, but I would have liked a stronger main character.
review 2: While enjoyable to listen to, this book at times was hard to follow. The transitions from one scenario to another was clumsy at times, and left me wondering, "What is going on now?" I got lost for a moment till I figured out where the story was going and who the characters were. With that said, it was an interesting enough story to pass the time in our travels. I like the writing style of Stephanie Black and her use of language and her clever expressions and interesting conversations. And I loved the narrator who read this audio book. less

I had difficulty believing some of the elements of this story but it was still an enjoyable read.

My first LDS-fiction/mystery. I'd say it was a little cheesy, but it kept me interested!
