review 1: This story about Ann Putnam Jr. , Mercy Lewis, and Margaret Walcott is very...interesting. I found it hard at times to understand the meaning of some writing because its was all poetry. At some times I would even have to go back and read the page two or three times before I understood. But overall I picked up that these girls were allowed the ability to accuse others of being a witch or doing witchcraft. Even if they really did not do those things, they were put to death. I found out the the girls have a lot of power and when they would accuse someone of being UN-holy or evil, most people would listen. These were fictional accounts from Salem Massachusetts. As you read you get drawn to know the girls better and get more attached. Over all this book was well written and wel... morel put together.
review 2: Wow! I don't usually pick up books that are written in verse, but the subject matter here intrigued me. I was captivated by the viewpoints of these girls as they maneuvered through the time period of the Salem witch trials. A great story, but also a really fascinating historical work, that gave me a whole new perspective on that time period. I also liked the author's informational sections at the end, where she discusses the real-life people who populate her book, and what happened to them. This is so well-written, I could hear the voices of these girls! I'll be looking for more by this author. less
