review 1: Unfortunately there seem to be more and more of these fairytale remix books being publish and they seem to be getting worse and worse as time goes on. This certainly a new low as far as these books go and the second worst fairytale remix I've ever read. It missed the mark on several points, not the least of which is being to corny for older readers but with a bit to many romantic undertones that younger readers won't appreciate either. Lame, is probably the best word to sum up the whole thing. In theory it's a good idea and would have come out a lot better if the writer had not tired so hard to make old clichés witty and missed the mark in doing so. I should also mention that I bought the first book and the sequel at the same time so I'm now trying to get through the sequ... moreel which I thought had a plot that was blaringly obvious form the beginning so I lost interest right away, and fairytale villains fighting comic book superheroes? NO.
review 2: I enjoyed this one! Lots of humor and i love the characters.Dracula, Big Wolf and a Warlock's kids and their adventures. It's cool that some kids was brought in this school because they've done some good things to other people which is not allowed because again the name says it all - Villain School. So being bad, evil and villainous is what is expected of the students here.Vampires, Wolves, Witches + the school + the witch from Hansel/Gretel + Count Dracula + the wolf from little red riding hood + 3 friends + Spells + Harry Potter-ish kinda set up all rolled into one. For me, Its kinda like Harry Potter but on the evil side of things. Rune's Dad is like the Dumbledore of the school. Rune as Potter, Jez like Hermione and Wolf as Ron. I enjoyed every minute of the story, their adventures and on how they completed the plot given to Rune. Also i like the idea that some characters they met was the Master's friends way back their time on the Villain School. It's a fun filled story. Characters from different stories were casted in this good book. I love how Rune always says they're villains but he and his friends always ends up doing heroic things or good deeds to other people. Oh the kid in me. :))) Will be reading the 2nd book in no time.. less
