review 1: This book was fascinating. With the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking this year,we saw a great influx of books about the topic. This book is one of the best. The author goes into great detail of how the ship was built, the fatal mistakes that were made during consruction, the action of the crew and passengers on that night, and the consequences. The pictures accompanying the text are remarkable. The author was able to put a very human face on the victims and survivors. The book's bibliography includes websites, DVD's and books. At the back of the book is a timeline, a glossary of nautical terms and source notes.Recommend this book to Titanic enthusiasts of all ages. This would be a great title to booktalk.

... moreld insterested in the Titanic story, I've read countless Titanic stories. However, this one will definitely stick with me. I loved the numerous eyewitness accounts, the photos (some I've never seen before), the inset boxes with more on-board stories of passengers, survivors, the ship's crew, etc. This books is definitely a must-read for Titanic enthusiasts or history buffs. Would recommend for 4th grade (high reading level) and up. less
