review 1: Read this in 2 days. It was like the book had become my life and my real life was on the sidelines. King is a really great writer. His vision is very dark but he does make you think... And of course sometimes you Don't want to think his thoughts, but he pulls you in anyway. I found myself wondering if he really believes what he wrote or is it for entertainment purposes. Either way, it's a helluva ride.
review 2: This novel contains mostly likable characters, and in this it reminds me of King's earlier works (with the exception of The Stand, which had characters that one grew to like). Even the antagonist appears to be a pleasant, caring person until near the end.The depiction of evil, reminds me of the old-school stuff as well.I love when Mr. King writes the c... moreoming of age stuff; I totally believe that no one I've read does this better. Once again, there are others here can summarize the plot and articulate their feelings better than I (I think I need more coffee to do that...), so I'll leave it to them.I will tell you, that Jamie Morton is one of my favorite characters of the year. I do miss King's intros and afterwards though.Enjoy, constant reader! Four and a half stars from a faithful follower. less
