review 1: Read this in 2 days. It was like the book had become my life and my real life was on the sidelines. King is a really great writer. His vision is very dark but he does make you think... And of course sometimes you Don't want to think his thoughts, but he pulls you in anyway. I found myself wondering if he really believes what he wrote or is it for entertainment purposes. Either way, it's a helluva ride.
review 2: This novel contains mostly likable characters, and in this it reminds me of King's earlier works (with the exception of The Stand, which had characters that one grew to like). Once again, there are others here can summarize the plot and articulate their feelings better than I (I think I need more coffee to do that...), so I'll leave it to them.I will tell you, that Jamie Morton is one of my favorite characters of the year. I do miss King's intros and afterwards though.Enjoy, constant reader! Four and a half stars from a faithful follower. less

Great book! No one weaves a tale and gets you sucked into a story like The Master.

Meh. 3 stars for the usual great writing. Story, characters, finale: meh.

Loved the heavy Lovecraftian feel of this book especially at the end.
