This cute tale, told from the viewpoint of Pluto will catch the attention of students and give them a small lesson in astronomy. The back pages include information explaining the reasons Pluto is no longer a planet. Fun story!
review 2: When the news finally reaches Pluto that he has been demoted and is no longer considered a planet, he is understandably furious and decides to find out what has happened. He zooms as quickly as he can to Earth, passing by some of his fellow planets, but none of them can help at all. After all, they are dealing with their own problems and preoccupat... moreions such as keeping their moons in orbit. After heading to sn observatory, Pluto looms over the people below, but finds solace in the words of a boy who tells him that size doesn't matter; after all, Pluto is still his favorite. I liked the mix of fantasy and science facts about the planets are provided in the text as well as an explanation for why Pluto lost is planet designation. While Pluto orbits the sun and is spherical in shape, it does not use its gravity to clear objects from its orbit. Young readers will enjoy learning facts about Pluto and its three moons and noting Pluto's personality through the illustrations created by Radiograph pen and Luna dyes. less
