review 1: If you ever thought scientists were just a little too arrogant about the way they look at this world and their scientific "objectivity", this book is for you, and if you think people who see conspiracy, ufos and ghosts everywhere are quick to find fantastic explanations for non-fantastic things, you won't be disappointed, either.Volk delves into multiple fringe topics with integrity and respect for the topic and people he has researched. He's also clear about his own experiences, which has influenced him. Refreshing, too, in this age of pundits expressing 100% certainty on things that don't come close to that level of proof or certainty, is his willingness to put out the all the information and say that we still don't really know, but we should respect each other and the p... moreeople who continue the search. It's well written, researched, and fun to read. I highly recommend it.
review 2: Now paranormal is the new normal! We are asked to be open to the strangeness of human experience, and the many unexplained phenomena we see all around us.Near-death experiences, telepathy, ghosts, lucid dreaming--it's all here on display in wonder--is it real or Memorex playback of holograms? For sucn an interesting topic tapped into by some great movies, this book seems quite mundane and even boring at times, almost a scholarly work. less
