review 1: For those of you who miss Firefly...This book was written on spec but not picked up by Universal (or whatever movie studio it was) for a movie tie-in/lead-in (?) before the Serenity movie was released. It is set between the end of the short-lived series and the movie, and reading it feels like getting a bonus episode of the series. So, if you've been hankering for a fix of Mal, Zoe and all the kids in the 'verse, snap this up. BTW, did I mention it is free? And fun?
review 2: This was pretty entertaining! I'd probably give it 3.5 stars, but it's closer to 3 than 4 so that's what I went with. I thought Brust did a really good job of capturing the personalities of the characters and portraying them in text format. There were a few exceptions, over-used words and
... moreterms that I don't remember being over-used in the show, but that was easily forgiven. The story was entertaining, and read like an episode of the show, which was a nice trip down memory lane. Overall, I liked it. I can't say I really liked it, but that's just because I really liked the show. No matter what, I don't think this could be at the same level as the show, so it sort of pales in the comparison. But still.. Good times. I'm glad I read it. less

Entertaining stuff. This is just like watching an episode of Firefly. He's got the dialogue down.
