review 1: WOW!! This book is inspiring and heartbreaking all at the same time and yet so incredibly enjoyable! Its a hard subject to deal with, especially when your "terms" are a bit different - but thats the heart of the book - live life to the fullest and love life and the people in it HARD. Cancer hurts - not just those who are afflicted with it but those around the person who is sick. Its a painful subject but the writing here doesnt focus on the negative - it brings out the positives that can come from knowing life is not a guarantee.
review 2: This book was a bit saccharin for me. The plot was moving and the message was sincere, but I think having the main character ,Don, tell his story in the first person made it a bit cliche. Certainly a dying person treasures ev... moreery last moment of life, but we had to hear how his precious wife Bella was the love of his life once more, I would have needed morphine. Some aspects were just too non believable - Where is this man's anger, bargaining, sadness with receiving a death sentence early in life? What child dying of lymphoma would speak such words of wisdom to a strange adult at such a young age while so Ill? Where does a woodworker and homemaker get the hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend traveling the world and fulfilling a bucket list? Why did the the doctor die unexpectedly and without further explanation? Was it to contrast expected death with unexpected? Nice story with likable characters and an important message... But definitely a story for the Hallmark Channel, which is just not my taste. less
