review 1: I picked this beauty up in a market for only $2 as well as some other goodies too.I really enjoyed this baby, it was full of laughs, sighs, frowns, and enjoyment. This is the first book I've read from this author and most definitely isn't the last! Elle is someone you want to root for all the way, she owns everything around her! Mike was just swoon worthy and together they made a hilarious quirky witty couple!!!! I enjoyed it the most because sometimes..... You just need a break from all the dark broody alpha males like: Christian Grey, Gideon, James Cavendish etc etc... Sometimes all you need is an honest simple alpha male like Mikey!!!Enjoy.
review 2: Dangerous Curves Ahead is a fun, contemporary romance novel. Our heroine, Ellis Garrett, is the adopted daug
... morehter of a hippy, professor mom and an autistic-like dad with a sister who lives to torment her. Her sister is beautiful but jealous of Ellis's brains and spunk. Ellis has a law degree from Harvard, an ex-boyfriend who was controlling and verbally abusive and overly needy, and a desire to start over back home in a little town as a clothing shop proprietor who fits alternately sized women. Our hero, Mike Edwards, is a cop who had a relationship with Ellis' sister four years ago. They knew each other when Ellis lived in Manhattan. Mike has left the NYPD to move back to his college town to reclaim empathy for humanity and find a future for himself. When he meets up with Ellis in a coffee shop, he doesn't even recognize her. She uses this to torment him for awhile. I found it quite funny and appropriate. There is much happening in this book and it plays out over a period of months. Due to Mike's relationship with Ellis' sister, they were off to a shaky start. Ellis is also recovering from baggage of her ex-boyfriend who is a little stalkery as he wants her to get back together with him. Ellis and her sister have communication problems. The stores in the downtown neighborhood experience a crime spree - 2 robberies in broad daylight. Of course, Ellis' store was one of them. Speaking of her store, it is new and fledgling and thus struggling to make ends meet. Many encourage Ellis to go back to being a lawyer. Over all of this, is the concern over Ellis' size. She often refers to herself as fat, which Mike dislikes, yet other people (mostly women) agree with Ellis' assessment. This brings me to the primary thing that bugged me in this book. The descriptions of the characters, especially Ellis and Mike. Descriptions of Ellis were scattered about the book and I am left with an unclear picture of her. I don't know what she looks like. She has ivory skin and olive skin. She has a flat belly. She calls herself fat. Her ex-boyfriend didn't want her to wear heels because it made him feel short, but apparently Mike is taller. No idea if she's tall or medium height. Don't know if she's a size 12, which some think is fat, or if she's a size 22. I think she's busty with hips, maybe. I'm not certain of her nationality or ethnic lineage, white, african american, indian, ??? I do know she's bright, fun, caring, recovering, smart, and talented. Similarly with Mike, I got the impression he's tall and fit. I know he runs, has family he cares about and was hurt when his father left him and the family. This leads me to Mike's side of the story. His father abandoned the family when Mike was 1 day from turning 13 years old. The family struggled but made it together. He has 3 sisters and a mom, who runs a flower shop. This means Mike was familiar with the workings of a small, independently ran shop and was able to help Ellis with bookkeeping tasks. Mike's best friend from college, Colin, is from Ireland and Mike's mom unofficially adopted him as her own. Colin also lives in the same small town. (Ellis' ex-boyfriend's aunt also lives in the same town and gives nothing but grief and threats to Ellis.) Mike's dad wants to return to the family. This is the baggage Mike brings to the relationship. As I said, there is a lot going on in this book, more than was probably necessary. However, it really was a fun read. The secondary characters were enjoyable and added to the conflicts, some positively, others were antagonistically. Ellis' spunk was fun to see. It was really great to read about a large woman being viewed as attractive. I'd recommend this book and will read more in the series.I was provided access to an advanced reader's copy via Netgalley but failed to download it before it was archived. I therefore a physical copy to read and review. less

3.5 Carino. Avrei dato di più ma ci sono stati troppi tira e molla tra i due protagonisti.
