review 1: I admit, it's been so long since I picked up this series that I spent the first half of this book trying to remember if I'd read the previous one. This novel is both hard to put down and hard (emotionally) to read. In the first book of the series, I felt nothing but sympathy for the main character. This book takes place a number of years later, after a new world order has been established-- one with distinct classes of Haves and Have-nots. The main character is quite self-centered and has a lot of both anger and entitlement, so I find his perspective is often hard to tolerate. As the story goes on, he develops a more nuanced worldview. In many ways this book is more of a classic dystopia than any of the others, which are primarily survival stories. I'm glad to see the stor... moreyline evolving, but at the same time I don't have the same emotional commitment to the characters that I used to.
review 2: Actually I gave 2,5 stars for this book. This 4th book of this series is totally a mess. This whole book doesn’t make sense. It’s a miracle I’d finished reading it. Beneran ngga suka sama si Jon sampe ending. Spoiled brat yg ngga bisa menghargai pengorbanan keluarganya. Even dia akhirnya membuang status clavernya yg najong itu, tetep ga bisa suka. Ngga keliatan juga chemistry nya sm Sarah, kayanya terlalu dipaksakan. Sebel jg dengan pengaturan aneh dengan adanya clavers dan grubs. Amit2 deh, mau balik ke jaman perbudakan? bukannya berusaha bersama membangun dunia yg lebih baik, malah saling membantai. So sad about Laura and Lisa. Tp Lisa kayanya jg maksa bgt, masa dia bisa ninggalin Gabe gitu aja? Tambah ke belakang tambah ga masuk akal. Tiba2 si Ruby ternyata bukan Ruby, tp kembarannya. Trs apa gunanya jauh2 bawa si Opal? kan yg tau kebenaran ttg Miranda si Ruby, ada jaminan dia bakal tutup mulut? Tp suka dgn karakter Opal. She’s the only character that lighten this book a little bit. And the ending also sucks! It’s like give the writer opportunity to make a new sequel about New Harmony. Anyway, enough of this series. Still, I love the 1st book most. less
