review 1: Not a whole lot of sci-fi. Aliens that look, act, etc, etc exactly like people from Earth, genius! Not. This is a romance. And one in which the characters...well do they ever really get fleshed out? No. Do you ever truly believe the connection and bond the mains feel for one another? No.Most hilarious bit in the book: Cael is super pissed at Lucan because he lied to her. Cael reasons to herself why she shouldn't kill Lucan. Her reasoning: she couldn't imagine killing such a skillful lover. WTF???? What kind of excuse is that? 'If he is dead his thing-y will no longer bring pleasure, and that would be the greatest crime.' It was downhill from there. The author provided us with a sensual scene of animal s3xing. Fun! (kill me now...)
review 2: I appreciated the cr
... moreeativity and the world-building present in Ms. Kearney's book. The story starts out very well, but there were things about it that bothered me. Let's start with technical. There were detail mistakes. For instance, at one point the heroine sees the hero start to cross the room, and then two sentences later she jumps because "she hadn't noticed his approach". There were typos here and there "stealing himself" instead of "steeling himself". Normally those details are easily forgiven. No one's perfect. However, coupled with some of the detail mistakes it became annoying.Plot-wise, the story flowed, but not seamlessly. There was a lot of starting and stopping. The characters' reactions to one another didn't feel real. The heroine is a High Priestess but longs for human contact. However, I could never shake the feeling that while the hero didn't regard her as someone sacred, there was still this feeling of putting her on a pedestal. Some of the twists lacked impact, I felt, and the story suffered at the end. Everything was tied up a little too neatly. I didn't feel that it was a natural ending. I can't say too much without giving too much away, but suffice it to say that between one chapter and the next suddenly everything is resolved, as if the answer is drawn out of thin air. less

The plot is very creative and imaginative, the characters are solid, and the sex is steamy.
