review 1: I must start out by saying that I don't typically read books that deal with illnesses such as cancer. I find them depressing and they often make me worry too much when I read them. However, I know that it is a fact of life and that's why I stuck with the novel. I found that the novel addressed the subject of breast cancer in a way that did not make you feel down and out although it did have its sad moments--moments that could be described as tear-jerking. I think that the characters were well written and I particularly enjoyed the strength displayed by the female characters. It was a long book and it took me a bit to get through it but I thought that it was well worth it and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a character-driven story that sticks with ... moreyou long after you finish reading it.
review 2: I enjoyed this book. However, I have one nitpicky detail to talk about, and that is that the summary didn't even mention that there was terminal illness in this book. As the daughter of someone currently undergoing breast cancer treatment, this is not a book I would have chosen to read at this point. That being said, it was well written and realistic to the point that it had me in tears at several points during the story. Josie and Bel were both very interesting, different characters, and I'm glad to have seen through their perspectives. less

It was a depressing book at times. I'm pleased that it ended the way it did.
