review 1: Really this is more of a 2 1/2 type of book, but I'll give it 3 instead. The two characters that form a relationship in this novel have decent chemistry. The parts that upset me however, was the "I love you so much, I'll come back" syndrome shit that Nick (the man with a 'very dark' past) employs so much on Owen, it got repetitive. The book's main saving grace was it humorous moments, surprisingly. Especially when a side character is involved in voyeurism and is caught by Owen (the other main romantic lead). The book was difficult to read at times, not because of the dark material, but because it droned on and on. When the author used her extended amounts of vocabulary to describe things most of the time, it was off putting as well, especially when the characters were getti... moreng hot and heavy. It's on okay read, I wouldn't recommend it. But if you have the time and have nothing else to look, then skim through it and take a quick gander.
review 2: I love a good damaged characters story. These poor fellas have that in spades, especially Nick. His life has been just plain tragic. This story grabs your heart and pulls it into all the pain and love going on. It's quite deep in that aspect. Also, it is very interesting. The characters and settings are different than most I've read. There is a pet monkey, an island which can only be entered and exited before/after high/low tide, quirky townspeople and more.Even though the storyline is full of d less
