review 1: At less than 100 pages, you know that Susan Mallery has sacrifice something in telling this story. Alas, what gets sacrificed is the hot headboard rocking. So Bailey is a single mom to precocious daughter Chloe, and she's also a widow, her husband having died in action. Kenny is a former football star, now working with other former athletes at a company in Fool's Gold. When he and Bailey wind up working on the toy drive together, you know it's just a matter of time till they wind up together.Of course, there are obstacles. For one thing, Bailey can't see what she brings to the table, aside from a daughter. She's a bit insecure where Kenny is concerned, perhaps because he keeps telling her that he just wants to be friends. Sure, he's attracted to her, but he doesn't want to ... moreput his heart out there. This is part of the Fool's Gold series, so you will recognize some of the characters from their installments in the series. You also know just how it will end, just as you know that Mallery will work your heartstrings to get you there. Unfortunately, this one suffers from being too short. We need those sexy times, Susan Mallery! NEED THEM. Kenny is too hot to leave to our imagination, so you have to give him to us. This book also suffers from being just a bit too predictable, but perhaps that's only for those of us who have read several - if not all - of the other books in the series. As sweet Christmas romances go, it's adorable. Just don't look for it to be hot.Published on VoxLibris.net@VoxLibris
review 2: Fun and emotional romance set in Fool's Gold! It's finally Kenny's turn to fall in love, though he fights it every step of the way. Good thing Bailey is persistent. :) This generously long novella tugged at my heart strings as I watched not only a man and woman fall in love, but a child feel some extra Christmas love as well. From tree-trimming to Christmas galas, this book burst with all the verve of Mallery's full-length novels. And I love Fool's Gold, whether I get it in big doses or small. NetGalley provided an advance copy in exchange for my honest review. less

Read this with an ARC from Net Galley. A great holiday story with characters from Fool's Gold.

Not up to the usual standard. This felt disjointed and almost like a rush job.
