review 1: Enjoyed book but not as much as some of Vreeland's other books. Not sure why; perhaps it was too wordy? A lot of interesting characters in Clara's life, not the least being Louis C. Tiffany who apparently had a problematic personal life along with his genius in the art world. Did enjoy the "second character" of learning about turn of the century New York City. This was a time of the building of the flat iron building and, I think, the first NYE celebration of Times Square was around 1908.

Good but liked Luncheon of the Boating Party better. Shame on Mr. Tiffany for being so egotistical

I enjoyed the subject matter and time period, but did not like Clara and her voice.
