review 1: This book is about so much more than a dog. I love the fact that it is told from both a human and canine point of view. I ended up reading most of it on a transatlantic flight and found that I didn't want it to end. There are several lessons of love and redemption here. While it was hard for me to identify with some of the choices the character Justine made, I can certainly appreciate the bond she had with her dog. I plan to check out other books by this author.
review 2: If you are an author, and you want me to read your book, including the name of an animal (dog, cat, dolphin, wolf, etc.) in the book's title will increase the likelihood that I'll be interested . . . just sayin' . . .Mack, the sheltie described in the title, actually DOES dance - in competitio... morens, with his human partner, Justine Meade. I was fascinated by how Justine guides him, with the slightest of signals, in their dance routine.I really enjoyed this novel; it was uplifting, sad, funny, and inspiring. It's a story of companionship, love, loss, "coincidence," closure, joy, and second chances. As I read the final pages, I worried about the ending because I couldn't imagine how it could turn out well. I desperately wanted a happy ending, but could not imagine how the author might pull that off. You'll have to read the book to see if she manages to do so! less
