review 1: This book made me really angry. I can not believe that this is what is being published. This is pre-historic ideas and stereotypes being published as acceptable for 2014. Well I am one person who is standing up and saying this is not acceptable. Let me break it down for you..Female lead: Weak. She grew up in an emotionally abusive household (or island) where her Dad is a tennis-playing, sleaze bag who slept his way through a large number of women and kept her mother on the side as a mistress but never anything more. In the end her mother kills the father and then kills herself.Male lead: Grows up in her family home/island, but his father loses it in a poker game to her father who cheated in the game anyway. He decided to get the island back and take it from her (a... moren eye for an eye).Ah the revenge scenario! Yes. What to do when an author can not bring two characters together any other way (harsh, I know - but I am angry and reading these books should make you happy not angry). So anyway, she wants to stay at the island because she has no skills and apparently living on the island with no future is better than braving the world outside. He takes the island back and says she can stay on as care taker if she will be his mistress for a month. She agrees. Hold on. SHE AGREES? WTF? She spends the whole book saying how her mother being a mistress destroyed her and then she agrees. She could have said when hell freezes over and showed some backbone and got a job. No. She continues the cycle of abuse and then wait for it....she falls in love with the man who has done nothing but have sex with her when ever he feels like it and who blackmails her and who cheats her out of her family home.ENOUGH! These books will only change when women say ENOUGH! Romance should not be about deceit and cheating and blackmail. ENOUGH!
review 2: Ashley made a deal with the devil to keep her island home. She's not making the monthly payments and was hoping that one more celebrity guest at her remote resort home would give her enough cash to make the payments. But when her mortgage is purchased and she receives an eviction notice, she goes to the office of the new owner to plead for her home. She is in for the surprise of her life when she sees the man behind the desk.I really hate writing these types of reviews. I was pretty sure I'd read some things by this author previously and enjoyed them. But this book was not my style. The cover was too cheesy. The story was stilted and unbelievable. Both characters were not endearing or relate-able. The male character was egotistical, rude, and a real jerk. The female character was weak and emotional. I just couldn't wrap my head around this story ever happening. But it wasn't enough out there to be a fantasy. I know that there are a lot of people who will enjoy the angst and drama, the sex (quite a bit of that) and the emotions. Sadly, I just wasn't one of them.I received this book free of charge from Goodreads in exchange for my honest review. less

Weak will. Not very book smart. Or common sense. Sexual enslaved. What kind of heroine is this?
