review 1: Imagine a warm, sunny day. The grass is soft and bug-free, the temperature just perfect for relaxing. The water gently trickles over rocks and other obstacles. Perhaps this isn't your ideal place for relaxation, but can picture myself stretching out on a blanket, soaking in the sun as my muscles let go of their tension. This kind of gentle release and refreshment is exactly what Susie Larson's book Your Beautiful Purpose was for me.God knows full well whom He's getting when He calls us. page 19What I LikedMrs. Larson's writing is simple and conversational, much like a letter written specifically to me rather than a book to a large audience. She conveys a lot of truth within the 230 pages of this book, always with great love, patience, and humility. I found many things to h... moreighlight, circle, and make notes of throughout the book. Several things made me stop to think and I walked away at the end of the book with new insights into myself and fresh encouragement to stay the course God's plotted for me.The Bottom Line - 5 starsIf you'd like a renewed vision of how God sees you and what He wants for you, then this is a great book to read. The six-session DVD makes it a great book for a small group study, and the end of chapter questions help each individual evaluate what could be learned or refreshed in each participant's heart.
review 2: When I first began reading Susie Larson's book Your Beautiful Purpose, I anticipated another author extolling the virtues of being a woman in God's kingdom. Although that subject is one I dearly enjoy to read about, I found myself pleasantly surprised to see that the message of her book went above and beyond. Women are the intended audience of this book, however the truths found within it can easily be applied to men as well. Larson addresses in a nonsensical and no fluff way our responsibilities and privileges as Christians, along with the fears and insecurities that we often allow to inhibit our progress.Although Larson's theology might be a bit more charismatic than what I am used to, she is careful to provide Scriptural support for the claims she makes. This book is not something to be read quickly and lightly. Rather, the truths it contains should be slowly digested. I also strongly encourage readers to work through the discussion questions, as they provide good food for thought and introspection. The only thing I didn't care for in this book is that varying translations of the Bible were used to quote Scripture, rather than the consistent usage of one translation. Overall, I strongly encourage other Christians to read and digest this book. I walked away feeling encouraged and full of questions and thoughts to consider regarding my walk with Christ. less
