review 1: The trilogy left a sad feeling inside me. I also felt like there was something unfinished. Don't get me wrong- i love the books, but the last one broke me into pieces. Great story line and characters, great moments!But there were two things I didn't like- the endless descriptions of food (also how many times The tributes were eating along the story, pretty ironic..) and sometimes in major moments there wasn't enough story ( like during the tour of the tributes).Beside that, i think i will have to re-read the books and re-watch the movies. Completely drown in it!
review 2: I decided to read this after seeing the first two films, the first one on an airplane and the second with a friend who wanted to go see it. I also wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Th... moreis is one instance where I think the films are better than the books. One reason is that in the book I couldn't like the heroine. I found her to be self-centered and possessing no talent beyond hunting game and no redeeming characteristic aside from seeing her immediate family have enough to eat. Although this is certainly commendable, there are certainly more interesting, intelligent, creative and otherwise captivating souls around. Yet she becomes the center of these books. I kept wondering why. For example, from the start, Katniss has completely captivated two boys who go on to risk their lives for her over and over again, while she does little more than take whatever she can get. Since this series is for young adults, perhaps this is what they want or accept as realistic behavior. If so, it's a sad world we're living in. Anyway, there's some good suspense and the action is well done, but the films are so much more fun because the characters are stretched and made so outrageous the horrors seem more horrible and you don't wonder why the heroine seems so wooden. less
