review 1: I wanted to like this, but in the end everything fell flat for me. I know the "history" in historical romances are to be taken with a grain of salt (and believe me I've rated novels with high marks even without the accurate historical detail), but I guess what I couldn't get past was the fact that everyone was calling each other by first name almost from the moment that they met. And I do love a novel in which a strong stubborn male goes after the nerdy female, but somehow I feel like I've read books with a better delivery. I just didn't really believe in the characters' choices and the following actions that took place.
review 2: The story is quite interesting, and I especially like the heroine for her quick thinking in a dangerous situation. However, I felt h... moreer ongoing disbelief in the fact the hero is seriously wooing her to be a little disheartening. Its like she has so very little self esteem, that nobody can really want her.I like the hero, for his unerring devotion to the heroine, and even though he wasn't sure why he was fixated on the heroine, he still didn't waver in wooing her.The villain of the piece didn't really feel very dangerous, but was definitely a big nuisance.All in all, the story was entertaining enough to keep my attention throughout the journey. less
