review 1: The title of the book is a lot sillier than the book itself. The hero is one of the best I've encountered, and the chemistry between the heroine and hero is palpable to the reader right from their first meeting. The hero's painful and crippling leg injury is so well described that I could practically feel it in my own leg! Some interesting bits of history too - about the East India Company and the Thugees in India. I sure hope the Duke of Sommerset (owner of the Adventurers' Club) gets his own story - what a dreamy and intriguing guy. Highly recommended.
review 2: Engaging story. More depth than the usual historical romance. On the surface they are an unlikely match, but they have something in common: Both main characters have experienced tragedies that altere... mored their lives. The hero was the lone survivor of a brutal ambush while he was serving in India. The shero is the sole survivor of a childhood tragedy. When England's powerful economic interest try to discredit the hero, he must decide to live again and to honor those killed by publicly telling about his experience. Despite this grim element, the story is well-told and the interplay between main characters is entertaining. less
