review 1: Eight Keys is a little gem of a book. Elise has just turned 12 and started middle school. This is a time full of change and sometimes difficulties. This book is about Elise learning about life, being a friend, making the better (and sometimes harder) choices, and deciding what kind of person she wants to be.This book had a great voice. I like that the author really captured the tone of a 12-year-old girl. As I am the mom of a soon to be 12-year-old, I could hear my own daughter in the narrative at times. This really made the book feel like it came from Elise. This book teaches some great life lessons. The books touches on things we all must learn and discover for ourselves as we get older and have new learning experiences. Life is sometimes hard, and always full of the une... morexpected. It is how we deal with these things that makes us who we are. Eight Keys did a great job of making this point. This was a great, enjoyable book!

Three and half. Great. Notable, but others have done the theme better.
