review 1: The second book has Genny dealing with the fallout of being outed as a fey with an addiction to blood thanks to the virus from the vampires. Her former way of dealing with the addiction is now a source of a lot of trouble and add in the fact that she is being blackmailed to give up something rather valuable. Add in her neighbors want her out of her apt building and she is being framed for murder on top of it all makes for a rather busy time in the book. I'll be reading the next one when I want some urban fantasy with a large helping of living in London on the side.
review 2: I thought this was another solid installment in the series. I really like Genny and there is a LOT of plot here. Perhaps too much. I didn't quite get every connect the dot leap of logic,
... more but maybe the author is just a lot smarter than I am. And I really do like the original world that McLeod has created- but I am partial to the fae. Although there's something for everyone. Like trolls? Got 'em. Into vampires? Them too. The only criticism I can offer, other than the 'didn't quite get it' moments, was that I think Genny says 'so' slightly too often. As in 'I so didn't want to go there.' Just a personal preference, and it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book. From what I can remember from the last book (or maybe it was even a different book, stressing 'so' isn't that unusual) I think the so's were dialed back a bit. I've really talked about 'so' too much. Never mind, whatever, it's a good book. less
