review 1: A simple book that talks about making decision by considering 3 timeframes; now, later and future (i.e. in 10 minutes, 10 months and 10 years, figuratively speaking).Gave many examples on how to apply 10-10-10 in different parts of life. The basic idea is to start with a question and then weigh the pros and cons under each timeframe. Also equally important is to uncover our inner values so that the decision making process is more in sync with what we want. She called it 'value excavation'. I think using 10-10-10 gives 2 immediate noticeable benefits (a)that we avoid deciding in the heat of the moment and (b) we force ourselves to understand what are our inner values from the onset. The beauty of the process is that we can 10-10-10 in our mind and on the fly, if need... more be.
review 2: 10-10-10 got her Jack Welch, its gotta be one of the top life managements principles based on that alone! No, though she didn't really boast about that, I was confused through the first half of the book why, taking in account that it is a pretty good way to attain distance in decision making, 10-10-10 gained sooooo much popularity. Once she got to the part about her new husband Jack I figured it out. Again its a great method but it could have easily be explained in 10 sentences, maybe even 10 pages if you want to include some success stories, but 9 chapters + 1 conclusion??? No. less
