review 1: I enjoyed every story and poems. I had read most of them as she posted them in her LiveJournal. But I enjoyed seeing them in collection. I only wish I could get a hard copy to give to friends. The one new story was also brilliant. She has such a modern take on traditional stories. Such a common sense voice. But they are dark. Almost horror stories much like the original source material. I highly recommend these stories.
review 2: I cried at the very first short story. These aren't exactly retellings of old fairy tales, they're the makings of new tales that have all the magic, teaching, and showing true stories have. They're all amazing, and they all cut to the heart of the kind of truth that can only be told in a fiction.I love these. I've reread them alrea... moredy several times, and I suspect that I have to get a physical copy just so that I can really sit down with them, wrapped in a blanket, with tea and a fire just to reread them the way they ought to be read. I am grateful for the Kindle edition since I could take it with me wherever I go, and I read half of these while waiting on some really painful crown replacement waitings and they helped get me through that. less
