review 1: I really liked this one. Marcus and Benjamin are the most emotional couple in this series and Wick is the most intriguing. This story was really great because Marcus manages to reconcile with some of the hurts from his past and the hope and emotions felt very real. I thought this story was also sad because we get to see the violence perpetrated against some of the street boys but at the same time a sense of a mystery emerges which will build into a crescendo and then the finale!! I don't like reading miniseries because I tend to lose track of the story, but as a complete package I think the Pulp Friction 2013 set is a great read and I will definitely read the 2014 series once it is bundled.
review 2: This series, Pulp Friction, was envisioned as a three story a
... morerc for each of the four authors. Lee Brazil, Havan Fellows, Laura Harner and Tom Webb would combine there characters throughout each of the stories, which was certainly a new idea. Since it has been so well received, the authors have decided to continue this every 2 week release theme, but made a significant change in the fourth round that might confuse the reader.Since the fourth story surpasses the original arc, I feel the need to mention, you should now read them in order, as they each release to keep up with the storyline. Each author still keeps true to their own ensemble, adding even more new characters. In doing this, the authors have made it more of a continuing story. It is almost like playing that childhood game building on one story and growing it.Tom Webb still has his Marcus Prater, the ex-police officer who was devastated by losing his lover to crime. He became the dark knight patrolling the neighborhood, meeting Benjamin, a rent boy, being pulled into a car by a would be attacker. Through the storyline we learned Marcus and the other authors characters Wick, Zach, and Chance were all in the police academy together and have remained family through these years. Their partners and lovers are intertwined and are there for each other as families should.Story four gives us another short novelette of Marcus and Benjamin teaming up in the P.I. business to try and find a missing person, and finally Marcus realizes he is one himself. Marcus misses the one member of his family that was cut from his life when his parents found out he was gay; his baby brother Frankie. While working with Ben to help find Jeremiah's friend Nick, Marcus finally tells his lover this part of his past. This is where the role reversal changes for the couple as Ben becomes strong to help Marcus. The story is exciting, and fast paced, and heart wrenching, and everything you could want. Will Frank want to see him, where is Frank after being overseas in the service? What does he think happened to Marcus, his hero? Here Tom Webb is at his best, filling in the story and keeping the pace. He is the master of love, strength and hopefully forgiveness. These four authors deserve a standing ovation for this wonderful idea. Hat’s off to you Tom for belonging to this wonderful group. I cannot wait for more!!!Review by Gloria LakritzSr Reviewer and Review Chair for the Paranormal Romance Guild Review Team less
