review 1: Interesting book, but I don't think I ever connected to the characters. The beginning was a chore to get through, it did pick up about halfway through though. The characters were fine, I don't think they acted like actual human beings would, but it was okay. Loved the intro of the Jack The Ripper aspect, always been fascinated by that so that peaked my interest. Once that happens the book gets a lot better. I did like the side characters. Especially Derry. Would recommend, but don't know if I'll ever re-read.
review 2: Travel in time is one of my favourite themes when it comes to fantasy, it has always fascinated me deeply (and I may or may not have seen Back to the Future one too many times). So, even if I picked this book merely for its point -I hadn't the fa
... moreintest idea of what it was about, shame on me!- I was intrigued once I bothered to read the blurb. And for the most part I wasn't disappointed. The quality of the writing is superb (as it's not always the case in the mm romances), the plot well developed and those characters! However.A formula in a book it's all it takes to travel through times? Meh. C'mon, you can do better than that.Another point of complaint would be the apparitions of Sully and Nash's father. I mean...How? Can ghosts travel in time as well? Again, meh. It felt like a cheap trick to justify the course of the plot. The final whining would be about the lenght of the book. I'm not against lenghty book. Heck, some of my fav books are 1000+ pages and more. But they have a good reason to be that way. This story, at times -especially in the second half-, did not. less
