review 1: Fast Dynasty style read about 3 daughters, two sisters and one half sister whose lives come together and they work collectively on rebuilding their father's empire, a multi generation up scale leather handbag and show store. A quick read, chic-lit, some steamy scenes, predictable, but in all not bad for a debut novel from this author. Not much fodder for discussion for my particular book club, but would recommend for a summer/beach read.
review 2: Daughters of Fortune was something of a surprising read. I expected little more than a chick-lit and was delighted to find that it was nothing of the sort. It's sexy, exciting and often scandalous. Tara Hyland evidently researched extensively in preparation for this novel and it absolutely paid off. Fashion doesn't ... moreinterest me, so I usually wouldn't like to read about the fashion industry, but it is about so much more than that; it's so well written and explores a number of different characters - not all of which are likeable! less
