review 1: I wasn't that wrapped in this book. It had great potential, but I felt Tara Moss was taking "the easy way out" instead of really developing the story and thinking of a better end. I also felt that she was portraying the main character as if she still lived in the 40s when young people were meant to live with a relative before the age of 21. The idea of newer vamps compulsively counting rice or pebbles even though they have the "blood lust" of a newby is rediculous. At best a young adult book, but not interesting or good enough to be adult fiction.
review 2: This book had a great premise. Orphan small town girl invited to NYC by great-aunt, gets job with fashion magazine only to discover that the new miracle cosmetic that everyone is raving about is not the prod
... moreuct of mortal design and once it wears off, let's just say beauty is only skin deep. Meanwhile, our lovely young heroine sees and talks to ghosts. The problem with the book is that it was dull. Our heroine came from a one horse town and yet adapted to NYC like a duck to water yet continued to do things that put herself in danger. Things that any 10 year old who watched even Sesame Street would know to avoid. The narration was nothing memorable and did not anything to the text. less
