review 1: This is classic Ted Dekker in my opinion. He's a master at psychological and spiritual thrillers and this one was all that. It's not for the weak stomach though as he explores the evil sides of man. I wasn't too excited about the description of one torture scene near the end so I stopped reading before bed and scanned it during the day, but it was still gruesome. It supported the story i guess. Good book.
review 2: I loved this novel. I am a huge Ted Dekker fan and I am currently making my way through reading all of his novels. As you can tell he is one of my favorite authors and this novel just gives me one "Priest Grave Yard" and it does not disappoint. It takes place where the last book ended and we find our priest in a place called "Sanctuary" facing a test
... more of not only his faith but his will while dealing with some rather fanatical people. This book is so fun because Ted Dekker knows how to develop great characters and drive a story along with just enough soft moments to keep you invested emotionally. This series for me is one of my favorite and these novels some of his best. So if you, much like myself, are a fan of Ted Dekker, do yourself a favor and read not only this book but the series. However, if you find yourself not liking this novel please seek help immediately you might be struggling with a syndrome called bad taste in books. less

Mature, but great. A bit confusing, though. Then again, I read it when I was, like, twelve.
