review 1: Heaven's Wager speaks about the supernatural revelations and visions that God can give us, those who serve him, and Helen does just that. It also passed down her generational line, whereas her daughter Gloria was able to know and see a little and her grandson, Spencer who is only 10. The wages of death is sin; so will you choose to reject or accept Jesus Christ. Still trying to read into why the book is entitled "Heaven's Wager" and what Kent Anthony is going to do once he lost his wife Gloria, and swindled out of his major project including million dollar bonus he so rightfully earned (at least he thought). I actually can feel the tension as I read since I know how the corporate world can be with your ideas and hard work, whereas they take the credit for it. Moreover, I l... moreove how the author brought out the outlandish biblical stories we say we believe but do we really, as Helen points out and tells her Pastor that she is walking 24 miles, 8 hours a day for example. She wonders why he cannot believe something simple like this, but thinks about her bad knees and legs at her age. You will discover, there is a purpose for everything, a season and a reason, and watch the two collide and which side will be chosen. Satan's wager on God's pager, see who wins! 4 stars. "When Heaven Weeps" not sure what to expect with a title like that...started reading and see it is about carrying the load literally that the solider wants to see the believers do. We say we will pick up the cross and follow Christ, but this solider wants them to do it for real with heavy gravestones on their backs. Seems like battle between atheist (contradicting Christianity beliefs of Jesus the Christ) vs. Christian (Father Michael, the priest); challenging his beliefs and throwing parts of the Bible in his face...and believing in this Jesus is stupid and they are fools but hope believers are able to reveal the truth, and remove the scales from his eyes! 3 stars."Thunder of Heaven" third book of the series. Sadly this storyline didn't work for me. I read most of it, only had about 12% via eBook left to read. It was an updated version of Jonah and Ninevah, where Tanya aka Sherry Blake was called and chosen for a purpose that she didn't want to do...but went back to the jungle, a place where both of her parents were murdered. 2 stars.Ironically, every book had a HELEN, one who was looking to save another or help them find salvation (book 1), another who need the saving and find Christ and true love even at a near-death experience on the cross (book 2), and lastly Helen from previous book if not mistaken (book 3).
review 2: This was a 3 book series under one cover. Heaven's Wager was my least favorite. I just felt like the main character Kent wasn't fully developed. I didn't really CARE about him. However , I really liked the second book, Thunder of Heaven and the third book Heaven Weeps much better. Dekker's message of God's LOVE was central to all three of his books. His development of characters and situations that demonstrated God's Orchestration in our lives really struck a chord for me. When we ask the "Why" of life's agonies and tragedies, God has the answers and truly our best interests at heart whether we can see the answers or whether or not we agree with the answers. Dekker also shows the reader how Prayer is one of the most important things that human beings should be engaging in on a daily basis. A main character, Helen is a prayer intercessor and Dekker brilliantly shows the beauty of this calling. It made me jealous! What better life is there than to see Heaven's laughter? There is A LOT of action and adventure if readers shy away from the above themes. CIA, drug smuggling, nuclear bomb plots, etc... This book weighs in at over a hefty 1000 pages so dig in!!! less
