review 1: This one focuses much more on Courtney and her Uncle A and their whole relationship. They're both so unused to caring and being cared for, I hope they can get better at it! On the whole I enjoyed this one it just didn't feel as original as the other stories - probably because it was delving into the whole werewolf/vampire myths. So, I found my low point. That said, this series's low point (so far) is still miles above other books I've read. So check it out!
review 2: I received this ARC from NetgalleyI've been a fan of Ted Naifeh ever since I read Courtney's first adventure.Courtney Crumrin is that type of girl I think we can all relate to. She appears to be alone even though she's with her family. She has an awesome uncle who helps her to grow has a person and... more into her magic.This graphic novel sees us go on more adventures with her. In some ways we see some of the old Courtney, her loneliness appears on her travels with her uncle. Even though she goes through some tough times you find yourself gasping in shock or laughing at little things that happen throughout.The art work itself is fantastic. It suits the storylines and the creatures look unique enough to seem real. Compared to the last 2 collections this one seems more darker (colour and story wise) but this really works in this Monstrous Holiday.So if you like your adventures a bit on the dark side based on characters that use magic rather than super powers and actually seem realistic this book and series is for you!I've already ordered a copy for myself and will be re-reading the comics. less
