review 1: This story was completely horrible!! The connections and overall ties to the plotline made no sense. Overall, the plotline was completely weak. William acts weird at the death of the aunt, and when the story starts to connect together, including that of the aunt, it's as if the author grows lazy and decides to make the stereotypical twist of an accident . Then, she allows for William to lose ALL of his memory and gain no recollection which just caused the story to become that much more unappealing. The story is left at a cliff hanger where the entire conflict and resolution make no sense . !! I usually love the books I read but this is the first book that was god awful!! The characters have little depth and Emma seems to be a very conflicted and unbalanced charac... moreter .
review 2: I gave this one 4 stars, wasn't even sure I wanted to do that because I hate that the author had William lose his memory, I think it is an easy out for all of the mistakes he made, now he doesn't have to explain about Allison or anything else, but it also made him into a wimpy man named Will, I want strong, dominant William back. I guess I will start from the beginning, I thought Emma acted ridiculous worrying about William losing his job or his father cutting him off if she said yes to his proposal, if they were ready to get married then she should have shared these fears with him and doesn't she think he has some of his own money. I did like how she wanted to introduce him to her aunt and he was scrambling trying to figure out what to do, down deep though I don't think he killed her but I do think the author wants us to think he killed her. He might have sent some gigolo to her to seduce her and maybe she was so overly excited that she didn't pay attention and did overdose??? We will see lol. Once again I enjoyed reading about their time on the third floor, I like how each time they are up there they try something different. I had a hard time believing that Emma never shared with William anything about her past, that she never even told him about her parents dying in a car accident but once he loses his memory then she tells him??strange. I love reading about the times they spend together watching TV, playing yahtzee, and going to the movies, normal relationship stuff mixed with the suspenseful stuff, the sexual stuff, makes for a great book. Another thing that makes me think he did not kill her aunt is that he does not hesitate to go to the funeral, he had to realize that someone from her work would be there and they would recognize him so why go through all the trouble to get rid of her aunt just to be outed by her co-worker? I did hate though how disrespectful Allison was at the funeral, touching William like she wanted to cause trouble. I was proud of Emma standing up to him, not letting him intimidate her, wanting to know who Allison was right then and there. I hated how he was screwing up the explanation of who she was and how he knew her, he was making it worse. My heart broke when he was not waking after the accident and I felt so awful for Emma because truly he was all she had, she lost everyone else she ever loved. I could not stand his parents, even his mother drove me crazy this time, just terrible people. I found it to be strange how that girl Allison kept calling his phone and I thought it was sick the message she left for him. I hated reading about her just waiting day after day for something to happen and then finally he wakes up but only to tell her to call him Will, the name his ex wife had for him, my heart broke, and then it broke even further when she knew he didn't know who she was and she said "You said you would never forget me", I hate this storyline. The rest of the book sucked to me, he acted like a wimp most of the time, she left him, she drank, tried to eat, read books, slept, this same thing over and over again. I kept waiting for the author to snap out of it and let William return and come banging her door down demanding she come home but instead I got Will gently waking her up asking her to come home because he needed her. I did not like the change in dynamics of Emma now being the one in control of their sex, I found it to be boring and both encounters were the same, only difference was once she tied his hands and dug her nails into his shoulder, wow. I found it still strange how weird she acts out in public when others see them, it is not illegal for them to be together and she is not his student anymore so why keep hiding? Then her flipping out about Allison calling, I don't know why she is calling all of the time either but still she is the one that chose to leave him and go home so this is what happens. It felt strange them going to the movies and now that he was a different man she took him to see a romantic comedy? that is what it felt like, and how strange he remembers what food he likes and dislikes but he doesn't remember the woman he loves? Man I hate this storyline. Then to top it all off and make this storyline even worse they run off on a whim and get married, he doesn't know her, she is taking him as he is even if he isn't quite the man she wants, and it is all very boring. I will read William's point of view and I have to be honest I hope he is faking it because if he stays this way I am done, because he is so boring like this and Emma does not pull off the dom persona at all. Please tell me our William is not gone. less
