review 1: Diana, the asthmatic beauty who has lived in Spindles( aka Spinster's)Cove for 2 years gets her love story in this novella. I usually dislike novella's but because Diana and her family have featured in so many previous books their characters were fully developed with a history that novella's often lack. The Blacksmith Aaron has been smitten by Diana's reserved beauty for years. Likewise she has broken jewelry repeatedly to be able to visit Aaron. When he questions why she comes by and attempts to entice her into admitting she likes him, Aaron frightens Diana away. Diana has been afraid to live her life due to her past health restrictions. But she has outgrown her asthma and finally recognizes she can choose the life she wants. She wants Aaron with his big arms and st... morerong hands. They spends some time together and when threatened she acknowledges she would do anything to save Aaron. A mystery and missing items cause some problems in the romance as well as Diana's overbearing mother. Can Diana publically admit to loving Aaron, choosing a tradesman instead of a gentleman? Does Beauty love the "beast"? Ah Tessa Dare shows us that she does indeed in this lovely little romance.
review 2: Okay, now that was just a bit much, if you ask me. The Spindle Cove books have always been fluffy, even so far as romance novels go. But this is the first time I’ve truly had to question the longevity of a couple. Miss Diana Highwood, darling of the upperclass, rich and beautiful. Mr Aaron Dawes, humble and uneducated blacksmith. Really? Dare completely brushes over the scandal and resultant shunning their marraige would create, and nobody seems to care that Diana’s younger sister will now be much less likely to get a husband. Cue facepalm. Beauty and the Blacksmith wasn’t even all that funny, which is something I can typically count on with this author. This novella was only okay, while I think the rest of the series is much more worthwhile. less
