review 2: At one point in this book I couldn't stop reading until I finished it. I
... moret was so tense and pure. I loved how this book showed the several perspectives on beauty and uglyness and what they can do on a person and how it lives within society. It had a sudden turn at the end, I had this feeling that Isabelle would still be alive more hoping I suppose and she was. She was so clever and I felt so touched by her still feeling for Jeanne and in a way still was a friend to her despite everything by now wanting her to be arrested. It was an incredible story about two women who seem so different can be so alike or in sort of sync of connection. It was fascinating to read all the different sides and psychology, the revaltions from Jeanne and the intimate moments between Isabelle and Jeanna that none of them expected. A very good book and so precious, I needed to absorb and hold it after I was done. The characters were so alive and deeply written, also the tragic end with Bernard made me sad but it felt like the closure of more the end the book needed in a balance sort of way. As beauty had those men under spell so did this book had me under it's spell and I'm glad that my aspiration to never judge a book by it's cover as to judge a person by looks, didn't fail with this book either. less
