review 1: Jonah Borden is a Lutheran Pastor; he lives, preaches and plays on the shores of Lake Superior in Minnesota. There are a colorful cast of characters, author Hilpert develops them reasonably well. Under the auspices of religious confession, Jonah hears the true alibi and sets out to prove a member of his church innocent. Before the end of the book, Jonah encounters several twists and turns - but why spoil the fun? Read this book, a light mystery, not too preachy, and the scenery descriptions and food recipies will make you hungry for the authors second book in this series!
review 2: This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. I like a touch of humor in my mysteries, along with a strong, admirable, smart leading character. This book has all of that... more plus plenty of action, twists - everything you could ask for in a mystery/thriller. My first book by this author; I have another to read, then I'll be looking for more of his. I highly recommend this one. Jim finished this on 1-21-14 and gave it 4.8 stars. For him, that's an excellent rating. less
