review 1: May contain SpoilersRating: 2.5/5 Stars. This book started well. The characterisation was good, and Grace was unique, unlike any character I'd read before, mainly due to her counting 'problem'. I liked her humour and her obsessive nature, particularly with Nikola Tesla.About 80 pages in, it all changes. As she goes for her daily hot chocolate with 2 marshmallows and orange cake with poppy seeds, she sees in the cafe there is no spare table. Instead she is willing to sit next to a man she stole a banana from the night before, a man she barely knows. More to the point apart from the initial 'oh no, no table' there is no other reaction to the disruption of her day, something that I especially expected. It seems that as soon as she meets Seamus, she completely forgets all about... more her counting. Maybe it's just me that feels this is unrealistic but surely after spending 20+ years counting everything and following a routine because you're not comfortable otherwise, it would take more than a brief encounter with one man to change it allApart from that, I did enjoy it. The bits with Seamus were far more faster pace, I loved Seamus I did. He was lovely, as was Larry. It was a decent read, but as far as I'm concerned don't expect a miracle.
review 2: Grace Lisa Vandenburg is fascinated by mathematics and loves numbers. Unfortunately she also suffers from a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder that means she has to count, not just occasionally but all the time. Her condition has meant that she can no longer work, lives by herself with a daily routine that is very regimented. A chance meeting with a tall and persistent stranger offers a tantalising glimpse of a different way of life but are the odds too stacked against a happy ending? This is a funny, uplifting and unusual romance with a lead character too sharp and smart to be pitied. The ending was a surprise but struck just the right note. less

Loved it! Funny, sad, interesting, tragic. Yeah, it's chick lit but with an intelligent twist.
