review 1: Dit boek vertelt het verhaal van een vrouw met een bijzondere vorm van OCD: dwangmatig tellen. Interessant om te lezen hoe het voor zo iemand is om hiermee te leven en hoe erg dit een leven kan beheersen. Het stuk over haar therapie vond ik niet zo pakkend, maar het stuk daarna was erg mooi en geeft duidelijk weer wat voor een strijd het voor haar is. Toch is het boek totaal niet triest of zo, het is juist ontzettend grappig geschreven en er zijn een hoop positieve momenten!
review 2: Another tale in which people resist telling each other what's really going on when it would clearly be easier for them to deal with if they did. This bothers me not only because it's unrealistic, but in dramatic terms it creates lame, empty conflict out of the lack of information ... morewhen the sharing of said information would be much more of a compelling conflict...and more realistic, like real people really interact. People don't argue about what they don't know about each other, they argue about the things they DO know about each other...so to read about people not telling each other things is incredibly boring and frustrating. less
