review 1: I mostly enjoyed this book. I'm a semi-cranky, moderately right-of-center Protestant, so I don't buy into the author's 'answers', but I appreciated two aspects of the book: (a) I thought she asked good and meaningful questions (either openly, or between the lines), and (b) I found her 'playful' attempt to 'answer' them to be attractive. I found few of her 'conclusions' to be 'right', but her starting point and her open 'method' were refreshing.
review 2: It was strange....I was trolling the Goodreads site for another interesting read and found this one, "Outrageous Openness: Letting the Divine Take the Lead" by Tosha Silver. It was an odd find because I was looking for a novel in the Japanese horror genre and when I tried purchasing it online, this book was lis
... moreted underneath the Japanese one as a recommendation. As I have said, it was strange as there is no co-relation between these two genres....at all!I have tried reading self-help/new age/mystical folklore/pop psychology books in the past. Heck, some are still on my "to-read" list; but I could not engage myself in those works despite my forced state of trying to open-minded. But Tosha Silver's book actually resonated with me on a personal level, without any hint of pretension. She had used personal examples from either her own experience or that of others to give the reader a sense of "it's okay, we have all been through these types of scenarios" without being judgemental or preachy. She had useful little mantras or prayers that could assist us with invoking what she had coined the "Divine Order" so that whatever was meant to be ours and what we should strive to become will be revealed in time and only at the right time. Some of the things she had mentioned really struck home, but I prefer to keep those tidbits to myself and would encourage those who just need a little nudge to get going to read this book. It was worth it to me and it certainly came into my life at the right moment. less
