review 1: I suppose if I hadn't read The Lovely Bones, I would have rated this one better. There wasn't anything wrong with this book, but it just lacked oomph. There was no rising action or resolving action or surprising twist. I did enjoy the writing style and the alternating POVs were done well so I will check out the author's other works. It just seemed like she had a great idea and then didn't know what to do with it.
review 2: This is one of those quiet, dark books that keeps you interested enough to keep reading. Lark is a sixteen year-old gymnast who is kidnapped and left to die in a snowstorm. ... moreith their lives. There's nothing unique about the writing, but the brevity of the story is refreshing. I finished it in under two hours. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed The Lovely Bones or Lisa Schroeder's story in verse, I Heart You, You Haunt Me. less

A dark, distinctive, haunting work of magical realism.
