review 1: Previously read 9/12/2012 - no reviewSo... this is why I should use GoodReads more again, I saw this on the Kindle thought - I don't recall reading this before (it wasn't in a read folder) so read it. It wasn't until the husband is in hospital that I thought it was familiar and now I discover I read it almost exactly two years ago and loathed it. Wish I had thought to check before I re-read it - would have saved me a half hour. The plot - successful high powered lawyer has an affair and her daughter in a fit of spite leaks a clients detail to the press. (There is more to it but that is the gist)The characters - forgetful, I normally remember I have read a book within a couple of pages at the maximum - never most of the way through a book. I didn't like the female lead, ther... moree is no male lead (not a problem I did like that we weren't given an obvious male lead for us to (supposedly) wonder if our female lead would ever get it on with him)... I won't go on.The thing that gets me most is the level of disbelief suspension required to swallow the end of this. The daughter leaks privileged information and doesn't even get a proper telling off? Whilst there is no damage done to her lawyer mothers reputation? I find that very very hard to swallow.
review 2: "Split Decision" is a delightful little gem by Author Traci Hohenstein! This is my first read by this talented author and I know it won't be my last. In fact, I notice that I may have mixed up the sequence of this Hollywood Series by reading this novel first but, nonetheless, "Special Delivery" is next on my list and I can hardly wait to get started.Author Traci Hohenstein has delivered a well-written, captivating novel with many unexpected twists and turns sure to capture the interest of her reading audience. Ava Spivey is...wife of almost 20 years to Mark, mother of college-aged twins Aubrey and Allison, and successful divorce lawyer to prominent people in L.A. At her rate of $1000 an hour, only the rich and the famous can afford her. All is well until she runs into her highschool sweetheart, Craig. Before you know it, she is having an affair and is possibly a candidate for divorce herself. As her life unravels before her, she is forced to make some major decisions. Caught in the act by one of her daughters...and the complexities that arise from this discovery are sure to entice those looking for a great storyline."Split Decision" is a most enjoyable novel. I actually found it refreshing to read a book that deals with such an intense subject as divorce in a light-hearted yet productve way. Kudos to this author! less
