review 1: I enjoyed the plot (once it got going, which took a while) and liked Brett. I found the world building unsatisfying. The alien world didn't feel very alien. And it was very unclear how the society was set up. How many adults were there and what was the ratio of adult/kid? Do the kids ever get to be adults or will they forever be second class citizens? One of the parts that bugged me turned into a central plot point, so that ended up being pleasing.I liked it enough to read the second one, but didn't think it was great.
review 2: This book was amazing. The description doesn't really do it justice. I started this book at 10 PM. I finished it at almost 2 AM and didn't put it down for a second. I loved the main character. She was sassy, sweet, hard working, independ
... moreent, but still vulnerable. She was a very likeable. I didn't care for the love triangle in this book (mainly because I cannot stand Brody), but I think it is leading somewhere and I'm hoping there is conspiracy (because what Sci Fi book isn't complete unless you throw in a bit of a conspiracy). Ryan is everything you want in a male lead in a book (even a bit of a jerk at the beginning), but he still has the helpful, protective, sweet, caring, and sensitive thing down.I love the world. Sci-fi can be hard to do if you create a bunch of elements and attempt to build the world from scratch. I like that this author developed a world that is very similar to Earth in nature, but has some twist. It was very easy to imagine what the world looked like with the descriptions given.I'm going to buy the 2nd book in the series immediately. I hope the 2nd book is just as good as the 1st book. less
