review 1: This was the first time I read a book/novella by Mr. Evans and I have to say I am a fan of his writing style. He can make the naughtiest things sound so ... elegant (not sure if thats the right word) at times. I also really enjoyed the paranormal twist in this story and how it helped Jacob cope with the death of Mara and move on to Sierra. Overall a very enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more from Trent.
review 2: I went into this book with no expectations. I had never read anything by this author before, and the storyline sounded very intriguing. However, I LOVED IT and I didn’t love it. I bet you are wondering how that is even possible. Well, let me start by explaining that Trent Evans is a great writer. He knows his stuff and he pulls no punch
... morees. The BDSM is accurate, the scenes are smooth flowing, and I enjoyed reading every inch of this book. It was the story itself that confused and upset me a bit. First off, some woman that he just happens to connect with—a supernatural being shows up at his doorstep. Yes, I get it. He is mourning the loss of not just his wife, but his submissive. I can imagine that pain and hell. However, he has a willing woman in his life; his best friend. Then we have this crazy seemingly demon woman that rocks his world all night long. She’s a wicked temptation, a delight to the Sadist in him. I get the symbolism in the whole situation. I just don’t get why it took something like that to wake him up. So it was confusing as much as it was titillating and well written. I would recommend this story. Not just was it outside the box and interesting, but I think with the boom of this genre of book being popular. It honestly was, kind of a beautiful story if you totally understand what the author was trying to do. As much as I was being a bitter brat he didn’t just go with his best friend—I think the situation freed him up to do just that. less

started off pretty good, but the "paranormal" bit was a little odd...

A powerful story of love and loss of a submissive within the context
